All school districts are required to collect USDA meal benefit applications.
This information helps our schools far beyond providing free meals for students. The information collected is used to determine everything from the school district's Title 1 funding to the discounts we can receive on utilities. There are also many optional grant programs that use this information as part of the qualification process.
